My other passion is dance. This blog is for me to throw down things which inspire and enlighten me on the stage and in everyday life!
slightly devastated I did not get to indulge in a european summer this year. it will have been 2 years before I see another summer. summer 2013…can’t wait!

I have taken some time off while spending time with fam and friends in Oz but now I am back in the country of grey skies and a warm cuppa to start an intense 2 year opera programme.

Now, I feel the need to get things back off to a role with my favorite composer..my good man Mozart. Here is a beautiful aria from Clemenza di Tito called ‘S’altro che lagrime’. I know I usually promote the divinity of Lucia Popp but I think, for this aria, I am going to have to hand the trump card to Barbara Bonney. Her notes just above the passaggio are effortless and soar into pianissimi without ever really dying. Lush!

i love mozart. i love this aria. i love this rendition.

Sophie Karthäuser singing ‘Se il padre perdei’ from Mozart’s Idomeneo.

O sleep, why dost thou leave me?!

jet lag is a terrible thing. i have recently returned home from being over the other side of the world and the time difference has not acted favourably upon my sleeping habits. all week i have been doing singing competitions here in australia on just 3 hours sleep a night. sleeping tablets, cammomile tea nor mozart’s ‘eine kleine nachtmusik’ and handel’s ‘o sleep’ are helping me adapt to my new time zone.

only benefit right now is that i am awake to watch the final of the euro cup.

forza italia!!!
